Background
Founded in 2008, the Center for Human Rights in Iran (CHRI), formerly the International Campaign for Human Rights in Iran, is an independent, non-partisan, non-profit human rights organization headquartered in New York.
CHRI’s team is comprised of award-winning journalists, lawyers, researchers, human rights advocates, multimedia professionals, and Iran experts based around the globe. With extensive reporting based on primary sources inside Iran, CHRI has earned a reputation as one of the most trusted organizations providing verified and up-to-date information, news, analysis and commentary on the state of human rights in Iran.
Originally a project of the Dutch Foundation for Human Security in the Middle East, CHRI is now a US-based international initiative focused on the urgent challenges faced by the Iranian people, in particular civil society and the human rights community. Since January 2012, CHRI has been a recognized United States 501(c)3 charity organization.
