Cartoon 11: You Are Not Alone (For Bahman Ahmadi Amouee)
Bahman Ahmadi Amouee, a prominent journalist and economic analyst, has been in prison since his arrest on June 20, 2009. On 11 June 2012, on the anniversary of the 2009 presidential election, prisoners in Ward 350 in Evin Prison got together to commemorate the year anniversary of the death of Hoda Saber, authorities transferred Amouee, along with several other political prisoners, to a solitary cell in Evin Prison. A day later, he was transferred to Rajaee Shahr Prison, and he has not seen his family for over 35 days. In response to Amouee’s transfer on June 28, 2012, over 120 journalists signed a letter addressed to judicial officials requesting his release. Bahman Ahmadi Amouee is one of the most reputable journalists in Iran and has written articles on the economy for newspapers such as Jame’eh, Toos, Sobh-e Emrooz, Norooz, Shargh, Vaghaye Ettefaghieh, and Sarmayeh during the past 20 years. He has also authored two books.
