Cartoon 134: Iranian Diplomacy
The Rouhani administration struggles for damage control following the January 2, 2016 attack by a vigilante group on the Saudi Arabian Embassy in Tehran and the Saudi Consulate in Mashad, after a Shiite cleric was executed in Saudi Arabia. Several countries have severed or downgraded relations with the Islamic Republic of Iran in the wake of the events, seriously jeopardizing the Rouhani administration agenda to reduce international tension and to bring Iran out of isolation. This is cartoonist Touka Neyestani’s take on the issue.
