Basic human rights and freedoms are under assault in Iran. Brave individuals continue to stand firm and speak out—for freedom of speech, the right to a fair trial, the equality of all people regardless of gender, religion or ethnicity—but at a high price. Human rights lawyers, activists and journalists continue to be harassed, prosecuted and imprisoned for defending these rights.

The Center for Human Rights in Iran works tirelessly to uphold these and many other fundamental rights in Iran. As the leading source of information and advocacy on human rights in Iran, we have had impact: helping to release political prisoners, contributing to changes in execution laws, strengthening internet security, and advancing a national debate on the rights of persons with disabilities in Iran.

But there is much more work that needs to be done.
