Cartoon 153: Silencing Montazeri

Following publication of the audio file of a 1988 meeting in which the late Grand Ayatollah Hosseinali Montazeri admonished Sharia judges and officials about the prison massacre of Iranian dissidents, conservative Mashad cleric Ahmad Alamolhoda has demanded “assertive action” against Mr. Montazeri’s son, Ahmad, for posting the audio file on the Grand Ayatollah’s website. Iran’s Intelligence Ministry asked Ahmad Montazeri to remove the audio file the next day, and he has been summoned to the Special Clerics Court to provide answers related to the audio file’s publication.
