Fate of Kurdish Citizen Unknown Following Arrest

A local human rights source told the International Campaign for Human Rights in Iran that there has been no information about the fate of Hossein Kamangar since his secretive detention. Hossein Kamangar, a resident of Kamyaran and relative of executed Kurdish teacher Farzad Kamangar, had been summoned by a security organization in the village of Shirvaneh to provide some information more than 40 days ago. Security forces subsequently detained him. A source close to Kamangar informed the Campaign:

After several trips by the family to the Intelligence Office of Kamyaran, the security organization informed them that he had been arrested by security forces of Kermanshah Province, and the forces had been deputized by the Judiciary to arrest and transfer him to a security detention center in the town of Ravansar. After 15 days of daily visits by Hossein Kamangar’s family to security organizations and Ravansar courts, they were finally told that he had been transferred to Kermanshah 15 days ago.

 

During this time, even though Mr. Kamangar is married and has children, the Kermanshah Intelligence Office did not allow him to visit his family or make telephone calls to them. After his family pursued this vigorously, the Information Unit of Kermanshah Intelligence Office informed them that he is detained and under interrogation inside their detention center.

The source told the Campaign that since the memorial service of Farzad Kamangar in Kamyaran in Kurdistan almost two years ago, pressure has been mounting on those close to the family.
