Bio: Jahanshah Javid
Jahanshah Javid, Senior Researcher
Jahanshah Javid is an Iranian-American with 40 years of journalism experience. In the 1980’s he worked as a translator for media outlets in Iran, before moving to the U.S. in 1990. He received his B.A. in Media Studies from Hunter College in 1995 — the same year that he launched iranian.com with an emphasis on freedom of expression and human rights. For a decade, the bilingual site was most popular among Iranians especially those living in the diaspora. In 2012 he left the site to create iroon.com with similar themes. In the meantime Javid has also worked for numerous other media outlets. From 1998 to 2000, he was a stringer in Washington, DC, for the BBC’s Persian Service and a researcher-translator for VOA’s television satirical news show hosted by popular broadcaster Kambiz Hosseini from 2014 to 2016. He joined CHRI in 2016.
