Long Prison Sentences Continue – Fifteen Years for Blogger Hossein Ronaghi Maleki
Following long-term prison sentences for political and social activists, this week the Revolutionary Courts sentenced blogger Hossein Ronaghi Maleki to 15 years in prison. Ronaghi was arrested on 13 December 2009 and transferred to the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corp’s Ward 2-A inside Evin prison. Reports indicate that during his imprisonment, Ronaghi has been physically and mentally pressured to confess.
RAHANA News Agency first published this news, quoting Ronaghi’s mother that he has not yet seen the ruling himself, but has been verbally informed of the sentence. Ronaghi’s lawyer, Ali Mohammad Dadkhah, has not yet been served the ruling. During recent months, Revolutionary Court officials have refused to serve prisoner court rulings to their lawyers.
