Iran’s Supreme Leader, Ali Khamenei, reinstated Sadegh Larijani, Head of the Iranian Judiciary, in his position for another five years on August 14, 2014. Civil and political activists have raised serious criticism and concern about Sadegh Larijani’s performance in his position. The most serious concerns voiced over Sadegh Larijani’s conduct over the past five years have been the growing influence of security and military organizations in decisions of the Judiciary, unfair trials, and lack of due process in political and security cases.
