Director of “Happy” Video Released on Bail
The International Campaign for Human Rights in Iran has confirmed that Sassan Soleimani, director of the “Happy in Tehran” video, was released on bail of approximately $16,600 earlier today in Tehran.
He had been arrested on May 20, 2014 and held at Rajaee-Shahr Prison in Karaj.
The Campaign welcomes Soleimani’s release and calls on the Iranian Judiciary to immediately drop all charges against him as well as those against the six other youths who were detained in connection with the video and released earlier.
The international outcry over the arrests, and the Twitter campaign that went viral, #FreeHappyIranians, were instrumental in creating intense pressure on the government of Iran to release the youths.
