Tajik’s Sister: “Even The Prosecutor Didn’t Know Why And By Whom He Was Arrested And Where He Is Kept”
In an interview with the International Campaign for Human Rights in Iran, Parvin Tajik, the sister of imprisoned journalist Abdulreza Tajik, said that ever since 12 June when her brother was arrested, there has not been any news of where he was arrested, the reason for his arrest, or what condition he is in now. She was optimistic to see her brother soon, after meeting with Tehran’s Prosecutor.
“We have no information about Abdolreza since he was arrested on 12 June. He has not called home and we have no idea about his whereabouts and conditions. We went to the Prosecutor’s Office, but they did not provide us with any clear information. I received a visitation authorization to see Abdolreza. I don’t know whether I will be able to see him or not. I will go to Evin Prison tomorrow to see Abdolreza to find out what shape he is in and where he is, why he was arrested, and who arrested him. These are the questions which remain unanswered and we just don’t know,” said Parvin Tajik.
“I met with the Prosecutor today and I told him that I regret the fact that my brother is such a decent and law-abiding individual who wishes the laws to be followed. The Prosecutor has apparently lost his arm in the War,” added Tajik’s sister.
“I said I don’t think you lost your arm to see lawlessness in the country. My brother only follows the law. He likes to help his fellow countrymen. I feel very sad about this,” she said, adding that, “I wish we were bad people and did whatever we wanted to do. We wouldn’t be in jail then. He said to go and visit with him and see what happens next. It seems even the Prosecutor didn’t know why and by whom he was arrested and where he was kept.”
